I arrived at school on Sunday morning week 8, I was really excited because today my class and I were setting of for Wellington. We loaded our bags on the bus and help put some of the kitchen supplies on the bus then said our last farewells to our parents and we were on our way. At first most of us were kinda excited but it didn't take long before everyone were either listening to music, playing games on there iPod or tablets or sleeping. We had a few toilet stops and a lunch stop on the way but to me it didn't feel like a long trip. I've been on way longer trips and they were in car, with annoying siblings, with nothing to do and this bus trip was a lot nicer. When we arrived we unpacked the bus and carried our luggage to our cabins. After unpacking a bit we went to explore. There was many places to play round but the campsite did have a big jumping mat that I liked to call the blob. The blob was quite wet and since there's sand around it, it took no time before the mat was covered in sand and we were covered in mud so dinner was a little bit late because lots of people had to "clean up". Our first dinner of sausages and coleslaw and was really enjoyable after our long trip. After our stomachs were full we went to our cabins and messed around until we had to go to bed.
Monday
Our first morning wake up wasn't to bad since we weren't tired yet. I got out of bed and then try to attempt to get Kylie out of bed... I failed. Next I went to get breakfast. I had my normal, two pieces of toast with jam and then I made my lunch, filled up my drink bottle then was free to go on the blob. Soon it was time to set of for our first destination, Zealandia. I personally really liked Zealandia. At Zealandia we were split into two groups then we started our walk through nature. I thought we had a great guide, he was funny and he pointed out all kinds of interesting plants and animals. I meet a takahe, lots of kakas, a few wood pidgeons, ducks, two tuatara and so much more. My favorite animals I saw were the wood pidgeons and the kakas because I thought the kakas had a great personality, were really funny and were really smart. The reason I liked the wood pidgeons was the fact that they were sitting on a bridge we were about to cross and we slowly walked up to them and I felt like I could reach out and touch them. When they finally flew away we were so so close to them it really was a cool experience. Next we were off to Te Papa one of my favorite places we went to.Te Papa is a type of museum that instead of looking at historic objects it was a modern type of place were you could interact with lot of it, it had things that kids were might be interested in (like the giant squid) and it also had lots of props from the hobbit movies. There was a earthquake room, a giant ork statue (it looked so real), an interactive Air New Zealand exhibit, a baby blue whale skeleton and some much more fun stuff that if I wrote it all it would go on forever. My favorite thing to do at Te Papa was the Air New Zealand exhibit. It had a wall covered in photos of the old flight attendant clothes and new ones, a place with props they used for making special safety videos, touch TV screens were you could watch all the special edition flight safety videos like the the hobbit one, business class airplane chairs and beds and lots more. The best thing to do in the Air New Zealand place was a place were you sat down and put on a pair of goggle type things and they played a video through them, except that it wasn't really a video at all because you could look behind you and you could still see things. They showed you what it felt like and looked like to be sitting in a airplane and they told you what they were working on to achieve. They also changed the scenery around you, from a forest were a looked like a moa walked past you and butterfly's fluttered past, to a beach with the water right in front of you and they said that they want to invent a way to make the scenery be able to change in their airplanes. Our next stop was the Wellington Nation Library. I was a bit disappointed in this because I thought it was going to be a huge library, with new and old books, so i was quite surprised when we arrived and saw no books. The library may not have been what I expected but because the man who showed us round was so funny and good at his job it made up for not getting to see all the old books. We learnt about WWI, how to use the information pods, where they books are keep and why, what kind of technology the have and we also learnt about why people go there. After the Library we went to our last stop for the day, H2OXtreme. I think I'm talking on behalf of everyone in my class, it was fun. There were wave pools, a lazy river and 3 hydro slides. When our time was up and Mrs Crowe told us to hop out we were all sad but we were ready to go home and go on the blob.
Good times...good times....
