How The little Macaw discovered Its Beautiful Colors

Once a long long time ago when the black and white macaws didn't have their beautiful colorful feathers, there lived a macaw called Quest. Quest was very sad because he always got teased by the other birds of the Amazon who were very pretty and colorful, but the little macaw always put up with it because whenever he couldn't handle it anymore, he would just fly home.

One day some mocking jays were telling Quest that he was useless and ugly. Quest was so insulted by this that he took off flying. Then it started to rain. The little macaw was so sad that he didn't realise how far he was flying. Suddenly the rain started to clear up, then he realized  it was getting a little colder. All of a sudden the little macaw stopped in the sky because just in front of him was the most beautiful  thing that he had ever seen; it had so many colors. He released it must be a rainbow. He was so happy that he was the first  bird of the Amazon to see a rainbow that he flew right through it,  jumped on it, and slid down it like a slide.

When  Quest landed on the ground, he realised that he was not in the Amazon anymore. He was in a damp forest with beautiful flowers and strange bushes. He jumped off the ground and started flying through the trees when he suddenly saw movement. He landed on the ground and started looking around. Suddenly a brown bird with little wings and a long yellow beak came out from a bush, and started talking in a strange language, saying “kia ora bro” and “kakariki”.  The macaw just stood there, not knowing what was going on. Next minute the strange bird told the macaw that he was a kiwi. He also told him that he had landed in a place called New Zealand . The strange bird then said something very surprising. He said that he really liked the macaws feathers. The macaw looked at his wings and let out a little gasp. His feather were all different colors, red, green and purple, and his body was a brilliant shade of red.

The macaw thought that it must of happened when he flew through the rainbow. He thought he needed to get back to the Amazon to show off his new look. He said thanks to the kiwi and took off. While he was flying he realised that something was on his neck. He looked down and on his neck was a green spiral necklace, with ‘Kia ora bro from Kiwi in New Zealand’ carved on it.The macaw flew on till he started to see the tips of the Amazon trees, and landed . The macaw was very happy when he landed. All the birds gasped. They started running up to him saying he looked magnificent, and some birds even apologized for teasing the little macaw about his looks. From that day on the macaw was one of the prettiest birds of the Amazon.
